Thesis

The study entitled 'A Study on the use of Agricultural Wastes into Building Materials: Cavendish Banana Fiber and Natural Adhesives as means for Creating Non-Structural Boards' attempts to create an alternative for non-bearing wall panel with the intention of recording the mechanical properties of each sample. The best samples had an average of 5 Mpa with the highest getting 6Mpa for its flexural test and taking in 1.9 Mpa for its compressive test before failing. water absorptivity of the samples was also taken into consideration. The recorded flexural and compressive strengths of each sample constitute to the mechanical strength for the study. In this book, the researcher has done extensive study on the flexural and compressive strength of commercial gypsum boards and comparing it to the developed material. This study recommends that the research materials be hot-pressed (like that of plywood) with the fibers cut in long finer strands with the same mixture as the best performing sample board.
