Tourism is one of the major reasons why Davao's economy and status are improving rapidly. To promote tourism, The Davao City Tourism Operations Office publishes brochures annually. However, in the publication of 2009 brochure, individuals and travel agencies who received it gave negative comments on how the photographs texts, amp and directory of establishment were designed. Thus, the production was created to address these comments. The primary aim of this production was to create a graphic design template that addresses the problems that spouted in the publication of the 2009 brochure. To achieve the objective, the designer used the three creative processes; pre-production, production and post production. In the production phase, the designer gathered and took photographs and made new composition of copy. In the production phase, the designer employed the six principles and two elements of graphic design. The six principles (Unity and Variety, Hierarchy and Dominance, Balance, Emphasis, Rhythm and Movement, Proximity and Repetition) were mostly applied in the arrangement of photographs and texts. The elements (Color and Typography), however were used in the choice of color schemes and type of faces. In the post production phase, the designer did the final editing of the entire graphic design from front cover to the back cover. At the end of the production, the designer was able to conclude that the principles and elements of graphic design could be very helpful in creating a youthful dynamic, and interactive brochure template that could be the means in solving the problems encountered in the publication of the 2009 Davao brochure.
