Thesis, Undergraduate (BA Communication Arts) -- U. P. in Mindanao

Kampante ka, ako dili is a pre-production of a fictional short film narrative which was developed using real life DDS experiences, factual records and first-hand information as a real life referents in building the story and the streets of Davao as the backdrops of the film. This study aimed to produce a screenplay and a story board for an advocacy fictional short film narrative. This thesis yields to explore on the process of conceptualizing and writing a script and create a story board for a fictional short film narrative based on real DDS experiences and use the streets of Davao City as backdrop of the film that will advocate stopping of Extra Judicial Killings. This study involves data gathering including immersion and interviews, story conceptualization, script writing guided by Bing Lao's Commutation Flow chart and story boarding. The story was composed of three stories of Dabawenyos with different point of views regarding the effect of Davao Death Squad to their lives. The result of this study shows that in order to create a pre-production for an advocacy fictional short film narrative using DDS experiences as real life referent, with the use of the streets of Davao as a backdrop of the story, one must plan carefully on the strategy on how to invoke an advocacy through a short film. A film maker should create his own stand depending upon the raised issue which is based on the real life referents and develop it in order to become a communication problem that is needed to be address. The story's backdrop should create a partial judgment on what the context of the story is all about. This study will serve as a wake-up call to the locals of Davao City not to be complacent with the city's peace and order situation. This production thesis advocates to stop summary killings specifically, killings which are brought by Davao Death Squad.
