Food security is a vision for Indigenous People who are known to survive in the dependency of the abundance of their lands. Achieving food security would lead them to the Right of Self Determination which includes community building and ancestral domain development which would link to their social, political, economic, and spiritual development. The role of a leader who could guide the community is crucial in achieving this goal. Songco is the center of vegetable production and the center of Talaandig culture in Bukidnon, Philippines. A total of 208 households were interviewed and focus group discussions were conducted to various groups to analyze the food insecurity of farming households. Household Food Insecurity Access Scale (HFIAS) was used to determine the actual food insecurity level of households. Three models were derived namely: food insecurity score, food insecurity scale, and self-assessment models. Multiple regression and ordered logistic regression were employed. The actual models show that education is a significant variable affecting the actual food insecurity incidences of households. The study also found out that the cash crop system has brought food insecurity to farming households. Thus, it is recommended to revive cultural and conventional practices and enhance food security.
