With endless possibilities and the introduction of new technologies, researchers can create innovative building materials that could help lessen wastes. This study focuses on the effectivity of crushed shells and rice hull ashes as substitutes for cement in producing concrete roof tiles. Crushed shells and Rice hull ashes were considered as waste materials and acknowledged for its pozollanic properties that is a potential substitute for cement to the production of concrete roof tiles. The experimental study has produced 32 test sample tiles. The raw materials were then collected, Rice hull ashes for Toril, Davao City and Shells were collected from different local market. Then these were subjected to different quality test namely Compressive Strength, Impact Strength and Water Absorption Test. The study conclude that the use of Rice hull ashes and crushed shells improved the physically properties of the concrete roof tiles especially its compressive strength and its water absorption rate. Lastly, if this research be thoroughly studied it will open up to new study on different application on building materials. Furthermore, proper installation processes and maintenance practices that best go with this reinvented material to ensure its compressive strength capabilities need to be looked into as well.
