Thesis (BS Biology) -- University of the Philippines Mindanao, 2004

The life stages of Procecidochares connexa, an introduced gall-forming tepthritid fly from Indonesia, the different galls formed on shoots of Chromolaena odorata and their individual sizes during each stage of insect development were documented. The egg is yellowish white in color with a maximum length of 0.81 mm and width of 0.22 mm. the egg stage lasted for approximately 7 days. The larva is yellowish and takes a period of about 33 days. The pupa is approximately 4.1 x 2.1 mm and the pupal stage lasted for 16 days. Female adults measured 7.2 x 2.1 mm while the males were slightly smaller at 6.0 x 1.9 mm. female fly can easily be differentiated from the males by the presence of an aculeus at tis posterior end. Life span of the imagos was 4 to 9 days for the male and 6 to 14 days for the female. Gall sizes increase and windows appear mas the immatures grow inside it. However, gall size is not always indicative of the number of larvae or pupae it may contain
