Philippine cinema has long been rendered lesbians invisible. Such stories and portrayals of an identity are often mistreated and misrepresented. However, in the rise of independently made films, more voices become louder and more representation of marginalized group in the Philippines are showcased. This qualitative research analyzed three (3) recently made movies that have lesbian themes and thoroughly looked into the meanings their narratives create. With the guidance of Judith Butler's Queer Theory, the movies representation of lesbians? physical attributes, characterization, sexual and gender identities were analyzed and compared to older movies that were created in the early 1980s to 2000s. results showed that the newer movies created a more positive note on how lesbian characters were treated.
