520 3# - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc. Radio by nature has the capacity to stimulate the listeners' own images of people and places through sound effects and music. It demands listeners' intimate involvement and this inherent characteristic of radio qualified it as a hot medium. Radio drama (radio play) as an essential component of radio programming can be an effective tool in promoting peace advocacy in Mindanao. By nature, radio drama compels the listener's attention into the subject matter. In effect, it inherently shapes the listener's views and opinions. This production thesis answers the design problem:?How to infuse comedic elements in the Characters, Plot and Dialogue of Arap and Jun-Jun?? Understanding the Mindanao conflict through library, and online researches has been the primary factor leading to the prerequisites of the playwriting processes: (1) Characters, (2) Situation, and (3) Plot. The procedure followed under the conceptual framework is as follows: Research and Analysis, Radio drama structure, and Plot. The storyline revolves around the lives of the two kids, Jun-Jun and Arap. The setting is in a suburban place, where Muslims and Christians co-exist. In this kind of community, friendship between the main characters develops. Their friendship begins on their encounter as classmates and partners in a game organized by their peace advocate visitor, Kuya Manny. The story continues with the boys' encounter with Lumad character, Hani. Besides Hani, the other two significant women in the lives of Arap and Jun-Jun and their mothers. Aling Nadya and Aling Marie. One day, the two boys agreed to sleep-over at Jun-Jun's house to play video games. However, both mothers later discover their sons' undisclosed plan but instead of ending up in conflict, their conversation culminates in a positive and hopeful friendship. The proponent of this study envisions the final production script to be aired through AM radio stations and other mediums like audio books and podcasts. This project could serve as supplementary aid to different peace advocacy efforts in Mindanao.
