Summary, etc. Laing hulagway sa babayi: an advocacy campaign on the situations of the prostituted women and children in Davao City depicted through posters, recognizes the need to give information on the real situation of the prostituted women children in Davao City. This production thesis shows that with the help of photographs and slogans, the real situation can be depicted through posters. Such posters can be used for an advocacy campaign. Photograph furnish evidence while slogans express the spirit or aim of a cause which cannot be captured in a photograph. There are ten posters designs made and are divided into 3 themes: (1) Why? (2) What? And the (3) How? Theme. These themes were based on the information I gathered from my interview with the six prostituted women and children featured in the posters. I feel that these are pieces of information the target audiences: people from the academe: students and teachers, the policy makers and service providers, and DavaoeƱos in general, should know. The photos for the posters were made into visually stimulating images either through the enhancement of colors or though using black and white. Also, having multiple or sequential images instead of just one can make the pictures attention-grabbing. The unusual cropping of the eyes and also renders the photo interesting. Another way is to experiment with the subject placement by not placing the main subject dead center. This does not only gives interest to the photo but also highlights the subject. Aside from experimenting with subject placement, the subject can be highlighted in a photograph either by getting closer or further away from main subject. To maintain the privacy of these prostituted women and children, cropping helps. Although not included in any photography concept, another way of protecting privacy is to hide the eyes with black strips. In this way, the subject's eyes and forehead are saved from cropping. This will delight the audience in the photo's overall scene especially in shots where the background of the main focus matters. The posters' contents: photograph/s, slogan, and tag line, can be designed and arranged with the use of the Design Qualities of the Poster and the slogan and tag line design concepts. They help create interesting visuals by making the different elements, such as photos and slogan, work together, giving the audience an easy navigation of the information presented. This production thesis can help Lawig Bubai in their advocacy for the prevention of prostitution by raising awareness of people on the lives of prostituted women and children. It is also hoped that this can improve their situation by minimizing discrimination and making or improving services and programs for them.
