Summary, etc. Sores of asplenium nidus were cultured in Modified Parker/Thompson?s basal nutrient media in order to initiate germination of plants and determine the effect of pH on its germination. Equal amounts of spores were weighed in filter paper strips which were later folded to keep spores intact during sterilization. After sterilizing with 20% Clorox, spore samples in their individual filter papers were inoculated onto the culture media with pH: 5.5, 6.0 and 6.5. the cultures were kept at 250C 2 under 680 foot-candle illumination in a randomized complete block design. High rate of contamination was observed for the series of initial trials conducted as well as in the batches of cultures used. Spores sown in pH 5.5 showed green spots earlier than those sown in pH 6.0 and 6.5. the spores sown in media with pH 5.5 also exhibited the highest number of germinated plantlets. Due to many contaminated cultures, the data obtained were analyzed using the simple linear regression method. Simple linear regression analysis showed that a negative linear relationship exists between pH and the mean number of plantlets. The linear response of pH to the mean number of plantlets is not significant at both 5% and 1% level of significance
