Summary, etc. The study analyzed the value chain of goat and goat products produced in Davao Region. It aimed to (a) map the goat value chain in Davao Region; (b) analyze value chain performance and value-adding activities; (c) develop net margin analysis of goat and goat products to assess how much value is added in each node of the value chain; (d) identify entry points to improve goat value chain efficiency; and (e) provide recommendations and value chain upgrading solutions for the improvement of the rising goat industry in Davao Region. Information was collected through key informant interviews, household surveys, and review of secondary data. Selection of the actors was done through purposive sampling from the region's top three major producing goat provinces and number of participating actors depended on their availability in the area. A combination of quantitative and qualitative research methods was applied to analyze the flow of processes along the value chain. This includes identifying value chain actors, their roles and linkages, and opportunities and constraints that affect growth performance of the value chain. The goat value chain involves the input suppliers, producers, processors, traders, institutional buyers, retailers, and consumers. Issues and constraints in the chain are the following: poor management, breeding activities, disease control, high transportation cost, lack of sources for superior breeds, not enough fodder or forage supply, lack of necessary equipment for processing limited market information on market prices for goats, and lack of financial capital to buy necessary inputs and expand production capacity. Recommendations to address the issues and constraints are the following: government interventions on the creation of goat resource center, creation of goat breeding plan, farmers to engage in silage making, and clustering of farmers and forming of association and cooperatives.
