Impact assessment of the establishment of PNOC geothermal plant in Barangay Ilomavis, Kidapawan City on the manobos / Thaleya Aurene P. Garcia

Socio-economic conditions refer to the standard of living, health, education, sanitation and economic conditions of a community. The respondents in this study are located in the relocation site in the plant site and within the ten-kilometer radius of the plant. To obtain the data needed, the survey, using a questionnaire was used. The questions were translated in Manobo language. The impact of the establishment of the plant is primarily felt by those who are in relocation site. They are the ones directly affected for they are given houses and provided with free water and electricity. The maintenance of the place is also shouldered by the PNOC. The lives of the Manobos after the establishment of the geothermal plant did not change that much. Changes seen are in their health and in the infrastructure in the place which include the gradual pavement of the roads and the accessibility of the transportation. In terms of their health, there is also an improvement. At present, the majority of the respondents said that they are in good shape and do not get sick often.
