Multicriteria weights from ordinal information / Rhodasel S. Dagumo

By: Material type: TextTextLanguage: English Publication details: 2000Description: 18 leavesSubject(s): Dissertation note: Thesis (BS Applied Mathematics) -- University of the Philippines Mindanao, 2000 Abstract: This study investigates how different weighting methods influence the quality of decisions based on multiattribute value models. The weighting methods considered include equal weighting of all attributes and three methods for using judgments about the rank ordering of weights. The questioned addressed was: how well does each method perform when judgments of attribute weights are based on ratios of weights? This is done through a simulation process. Rank-Sum method is surprisingly the most efficacious in approximating attribute weights. In addition, it is significantly better than the other three methods. Rank-Order Centroid ranked a little bit higher than Rank-reciprocal but, their performances are not significantly different. Equal weights method is the worst among the four methods and, it is found to be significantly inferior
