On different gridding schemes for piecewise bivariate interpolation / Ryan A. Ocumen

Three gridding schemes, namely Uniform, Chebyshev and Legendre Methods were used to determine the location of the grids. Three bivariate piecewise interpolation methods were all used in the study. These are quadratic, cubic an order 4. Maximum errors were compared to determine which of the combination of gridding schemes and interpolation methods and with the number of nodes gives the most accurate approximation. Results show that there is no superior gridding scheme on the test function chosen. However, this study shows that piecewise bivariate interpolation of order two generally gave better approximation.
