The effect of light, temperature, and pH on the growth and sporulation of Pestalotiopsis palmarum (cooke) steyart in vitro / Gladys G. Mebrano

By: Material type: TextTextLanguage: English Publication details: 2003Description: 19 leavesSubject(s): Dissertation note: Thesis (BS Biology) -- University of the Philippines Mindanao, 2003 Summary: Mycelial growth and sporulation of Pestalotiopsis palmarum grown in vitro under various light, temperature, and pH regimes were studied. After seven days under continuous light, plate cultures of the fungus in potato dextrose agar (PDA) under continuous light exhibited wider colonies and higher conidial count than cultures exposed to alternating 12-hr light 12-hr darkness and those under continuous dark. Seven-day old plate cultures of P. palmarum had wider colonies and more conidia at 20oC and 25oC than cultures at 30oC. similarly, mycelial growth and spore count were highest in 7-day old PDA colonies at pH 6 compared with cultures incubated at pH 7 and pH 8.
