By: Material type: TextTextDescription: 53 leavesSubject(s): Dissertation note: Thesis, Undergraduate (BA Communication Arts) -- U. P. in Mindanao Abstract: This Computer-Mediated Communication (CMC) thesis presented information about the nature of social interaction of people, specifically those who just established connection through the cyber world, and how their regular online participation to the discussions posted in their online page defined their overall cohesion and intimacy as a working group. The researcher studied the Tourism and Resources Interrelating Buenavistahanon?s Unity, or known as the T.R.I.B.U. --- an organization established in Facebook which composed people from Buenavista, Agusan del Norte. The researcher examined their posts within the months of July-October 2012 and divided the analysis into two: (1) frequency of disclosure; and (2) behavioral participation. Based on the results, in general, the T.R.I.B.U. did not exhibit much dominance but were submissive, positive, fond of negative discussions, task-oriented and emotionally-expressive. This simply implied that even with the absence of verbal and nonverbal cues brought by CMC, the T.R.I.B.U. members became cohesive and intimate through the four-month time. Despite also the distance and space, with their increasing disclosure and high level of participation, they were able to trust each other and the T.R.I.B.U. is now a home to many Buenavistahanons.
