Material type: TextLanguage: English Publication details: Davao City : School of Management, University of the Philippines Mindanao, c2013.Description: xiv, 98 leavesSubject(s): Summary: Exegesis School of Davao, in its 15 years of operations, has grown both in the social and economic aspects. It has not only helped shaped students to develop their multiple intelligences and shaped their values and characteristics but the school is also seen as a growing and profitable institution. It has shown to have good financial ratios and growth rate for the past three school years. The school has also positioned itself uniquely through conducting creative annual shows and accommodating special children. Its price is high compared to its competitors but it can be mainly attributed to its fully air-conditioned classrooms and its uniquely designed curriculum. Nonetheless, despite its obvious success, the school has been also facing various issued that critically affect its operations. One is the limited capacity of the classrooms and the uncertainty in the use of land and property. Hence, this gives an opportunity for the school to expand its operations through developing a new site, given the increasing school age population in Davao City and increasing enrollment in the Philippines for both pre-school and grade school levels. Thus, this also allows the school to provide better facilities, such as laboratories and activity areas. Second leans towards the issue on human resources development. The school had a high employee turnover last 2012. Moreover, some of its teachers are not yet LET passers, this then puts them at a disadvantage, giving them very low chances to earn recognition from the Department of Education. Therefore, strategies such as increasing the salaries and benefits packages, upgrading the hiring policies, increasing participation in trainings and seminars are considered in this paper. This will not only aid in the welfare of the employees but it will also motivate them to achieve greater heights and excel further. Third, on the other hand, dwells on the financial management aspect. The school is said to be inefficient in its record keeping and lenient on its collection policies. These issues actually lead to poor financial analysis and high receivables to bad debts, respectively. Thus, this paper suggests strategies such as implementation of stricter and clearer collection policies and ensuring efficient record keeping so as to further improve the school?s financial management practices, then eventually heighten its financial potential as well. In the analysis of this paper, the framework of Fred David was utilized. A thorough analysis on the school?s internal and external environment was also done. Personal interviews, surveys and gathering of secondary data from government agencies were also done to strengthen the analysis of this paper. Based on the Quantitative Strategic Planning Matrix (QSPM), the expansion strategy is deemed to be at the top priority and focus of the school, second comes the improvement of the financial management practices and last comes the human resource development. The identified strategies are seen to address the critical issues and better improve the operations of the school, hence leading to provision of better quality education services. The expansion strategy basically entails looking for a strategic one-hectare site, developing it and providing upgraded facilities and better infrastructures. This strategy involves a huge amount investments, thus needing the aid of banks through loans. This will enable the school to cater a greater demand and provide better services to its stakeholders.Cover image | Item type | Current library | Collection | Call number | Status | Date due | Barcode |
