Attention (AT) commands are used in communicating with a cell phone which has a built-in modem. Bit switching in the parallel port is used to switch the power of electrical devices connected to it. Any message received by the cell phone is passed on to the computer for parsing and if it follows the syntax for the commands implemented by the system, a device?s power may be switched, its timer may be set, or its state may be retrieved. Any processed command generates a report which is sent back to the sender. With this software, remote monitoring of appliances, and laboratory experiments and electrical devices is possible
