Super Sweet Banana Agri-Ventures Multi-Purpose Cooperative (SBA-MPC) is a banana growers cooperative situated in Maragusan, Compostela Valley that envisions to be the leading banana growers cooperative producing superior export-quality Cavendish bananas geared towards the upliftment of its members. When it began in 2005, it only had 60 hectares of farm lot covered and PHp240.00 as its initial capital share. Currently, its capital share grew by 1,516.99% and its farm area grew by 152.83%. Its services include lending or credit, grocery and trading. Though the banana industry has been an attractive industry, SBA-MPC, just like any banana growers cooperative, is faced with problems on the volatility of the global market and the threats of pests and fungi in the productivity of bananas which can only be dealt with by tapping its strengths and the opportunities local and global market present. SBA-MPC has been performing financially well since it has been operational, however, its credit collection has been poor brought by the low yield of some of the farms of its member-growers. This has minimal impact on the financial resources of SBA-MPC for now as its net revenue has been strong and increasing, for now, but if this problem continues in the long run, the financial viability of the cooperative will suffer. As such, measures on strengthening the viability of the resources of the cooperative must be done by identifying its strengths and weaknesses, and opportunities and threats, and employing different strategic management analysis tools for a comprehensive assessment that would aide in the formulation of the strategies. For SBA-MPC to attain its vision, it has to increase its production level annually and expand its existing credit services to farm lot acquisition.
