That also accords to the needs of today but also takes into account the past and historical features of society. (Torabi and Brahman, 2013) The City of Cabadbaran had been selected as the site for research since the place can be considered as a historical town. The city is developing into an urban area from its original history as a historical neighborhood. But these ancestral houses are already disappearing and being replaced by a uniform architectural style due to globalization. The study was conducted in order for the place to have a sense of place and continuity from its history. A total of twelve ancestral houses in Cabadbaran city were documented to gather data for the study. The data gathered was then utilized in order to come up with design guidelines for future projects or developments in the area. The guidelines that were gathered were architectural elements and spatial characteristics that are relevant among the ancestral houses in the area. Other data gathered was a physical analysis of the ancestral houses and renovation recommendations were provided for those houses in need of renovation based from the analysis. It is recommended that similar studies to be conducted in the future should provide a well thought of development guidelines that is understandable and follows architectural standards ER -
