Thesis (BS Biology) -- University of the Philippines Mindanao, 2002

A study was done to determine the skin and gill parasites of cultured African catfish, C. gariepinus (Burchell), in several areas of General Santos City and Davao City. The same parasites were found in the farms of both areas. Parasites were found to be common in culture farms. The parasites were mostly monogeneans, specifically Gyrodactylus sp. found in the skin and fins and Dactylogyrus sp. found in the gills, and protozoan ciliates such as Trichidina sp. usually found in the skin. Immature digenea or the so-called metacercaria which were attached at the gill filaments were also found
