N2  - It is inevitable that sociocultural system undergoing changes by colonialism, development integration or state policy recognizing indigenous population has an immense effect in the formation of ethnicity. The Agusan Manobo and the Dibabawon both claimed that they are the original inhabitants of CADC no. 155 in Brgy. Sta. Emelia, Varuela, Agusan del Sur since time immemorial. However, the ancestral domain claim was awarded to the Agusan Manobo, making the Dibabawon only a part of the claim. Non-recognition of the Dibabawon is a product of interconnected situation: political interest by way of state law and policies , and the generalization of academic knowledge of indigenous population used by the state. This problem has created a phenomena of shifting identity by joining in the ancestral domain claim. An identity which is more productive politically and economically
