TI - Efficacy of three concentrations of Impatiens Balsamina leaf, stem, and fruit extracts on growth and spore production of Phytophthora Palmivora butler in vitro PY - 2003/// KW - Undergraduate Thesis KW - BIO200, KW - BSB N1 - Thesis (BS Biology) -- University of the Philippines Mindanao, 2003 N2 - Crude leaf stem, and fruit extracts of Impatiens balsamina in three varying concentrations were used to determine their effect on the growth and spore production of P. palmivora in vitro. The water extracts were separately incorporated with the carrot agar medium in Petri plates on which P. palmivora was allowed to grow. Colony growth of the pathogen was measured daily for five days and the spores were counted by means of a hemacytometer on the fifth day. No growth of P. palmivora was observed on treatments involving leaf and fruit extracts. Mycelial growth and spore production were noted with stem extract but significantly lesser than in the control. More bioassay tests are recommended using I. balmasima leaf and fruit extracts using concentrations below 200g extract/80ml distilled H2O. this is to arrive at optimum concentration ranges that may be tried against the protest under field ER -
