N1 - Thesis, Undergraduate (BS Agribusiness Economics)--University of the Philippines, Mindanao N2 - Poverty remains an alarming problem in the world's developing regions. To address the issue on poverty reduction, one of the strategies that have been developed is microfinance. This is the provision of credit services to the poor to help them improve their economic and social condition, which is basically the mission of microfinance institutions (MFIs). This study aims to assess the actions made by Katotohanan, Pagkakaisa at Serbisyo-Small enterprise and Economic Development, Inc. (KPS-SEED) in order to achieve its social mission, as part of its social performance. This study also aims to assess the impact of KPS-SEED to its clients and to know what other services clients want from the organization. The CERISE Social Performance Indicator (SPI) tool is used to assess the social performance of KPS-SEED. For the impact assessment, Likert scale is used to measure the degree of agreement of the clients on the impacts of KPS-SEED. Results show that KPS-SEED focuses on tailoring its products and services based on the needs of its clients. KPS-SEED is also socially responsible to its clients, employees, and the community towards putting its mission into reality. However, only 35% of local clients are from the rural where most of the poor are situated. Impact assessment results further show that KPS-SEED has helped in improving the financial and social condition of its clients. Despite these positive results, clients still seek services which KPS-SEED is currently not offering like wider scope of benefits, residential loans, scholarship and educational loans. Social performance and impact assessment results show that KPS-SEED is successful in its mission. However, KPS-SEED can still improve its performance as an MFI through targeting more clients in rural areas and continue to create products and services that cater the needs of its clients ER -
