Thesis (BS Computer Science) -- University of the Philippines Mindanao, 2000

This project developed a database-driven application centered on constructing course schedules in UP in Mindanao. It provides a user-friendly graphical user interface, automated the assignment of section, day, and time attributes of the class schedules, and a mechanism for detecting schedule conflicts. This subsystem was developed for use by the program coordinators. The system also manages faculty and room schedules. It can also monitor the academic load of each faculty and prompts the user if the faculty has exceeded his loaded limit. It was able to operate collaboratively with other subsystems of the UP Mindanao Integrated Information Management Systems. Its drag and drop mechanism of assignment of courses to specific time slots made it easier for the creation of the course schedules. It provided an interface for the user to browse existing schedule within its database. The system can export student records to a csv file which enables the user to access the data using an electronic spreadsheet program such as Microsoft Excel. The system was implemented in Java making it a platform-independent application while its database was built using MySQL database server
