TI - Parallel computation and visualization of mammalian mitochondrial DNA sequence matching PY - 2000/// KW - Undergraduate Thesis KW - CMSC200, KW - BSCS N1 - Thesis (BS Computer Science) -- University of the Philippines Mindanao, 2000 N2 - A software called DNA Sequence Matching System was developed. The software accepted DNA sequences as input. It also included text file of mammalian species with complete mitochondrial genome. This file can be searched to find a match against the queried nucleotide sequence. To consider a match in a sequence, the percentage homology must be greater or equal to the precomputed threshold, which is at least the length of the queried sequence. When match was found, the system immediately stored the sequence matched position. This position was used in determining the genes. Parallel computation was used to accelerate the process of comparison. Furthermore, the software provided a space for graphical representation of the results derived from matching process. Another set of species can be added to the text file. These data can be deleted and searched. This software can aid molecular biologists and researchers in providing immediate and potential results specifically in gene identification, which often takes several months if done manual ER -
