Measuring performance of water pumpsets : a data envelopment analysis approach / Norman Mas San Diego

By: Material type: TextTextLanguage: English Publication details: 2002Description: 47 leavesSubject(s): Abstract: Data envelopment Analysis of DEA was used to determine the relative efficiencies of different water pumpsets. DEA is a decision-making tool based on linear programming designed t measure the relative efficiencies of a set of comparable units. This paper aimed to contextualize DEA as a tool by using the approach in determining the performance of a water pumpsets by first identifying its relative efficiency to other pumpsets, the factors its efficiency, and the margins for its improvement. The data was taken from a study conducted by the Comprehensive Irrigation Research and Development Umbrella Program or CIRDUP. The results of the analysis consist of the determination of the relative efficiencies of the water pumpsets, the identification of the factors that have contributed to a pumpset efficiency score, and the determination of targets for the factors that could improve the efficiency of an inefficient pumpset. The conclusion bears how DEA measured the relative performance of the pumpsets by determining their relative efficiencies, which is determined by the minimization of inputs.
