Effect of plant growth regulators on the in vitro culture of Vanda Sanderiana Reichb.f. leaf explants / Jamaica P. Lota

By: Material type: TextTextLanguage: English Publication details: 2002Description: 31 leavesSubject(s): Dissertation note: Thesis (BS Biology) -- University of the Philippines Mindanao, 2002 Summary: Leaf bases, leaf tips and whole leaves were used as explants and inoculated onto Knodson C media with varying concentrations of BAP and NAA: (a) 1mg/l BAP, (b) 1 mg/1NAA, (c) 0.1 mg/l NAA + 0.5 mg/l BAP and; (d) 0.1 mg/l BAP + 0.5 mg/1 NAA. The leaf base was found to be a potential leaf explant for in vitro micropropagation of V. sanderiana. Roots and shoots were formed when inoculated in the control set-up but was assumed to have been a response to wounding. Concentration of cytokinin higher than 1 mg/l is required for the formation of well-developed shoots. Higher concentration of auxin relative to cytokinin led to simultaneous callus and root formation
