520 3 _aThe aim of the study is to explore Filipino teens? conception on privacy and privacy boundaries as they navigate and interact in Facebook, reflecting how they identify and manage the face or the public image they project. Teens? behaviours and activities in Facebook served as the bases for the concepts that emerged throughout the study. The study used a grounded theory approach, where data gathering and data analyses had been carried through six focused group discussions (FGD), three in-depth interviews, and analyses of written reflections. These methods were significant in grounding the theory to have a better understanding on the various concepts linked to privacy and privacy strategies that teens employ in order to manage their accounts. The results of the study indicate that majority of the teens in the sample constantly think about the self and other users or the publics they encounter. Specifically, teens explore in Facebook with the following concepts in mind: 1) concept offending the publics; 2) concept of protecting the self and; 3) concept of control through limiting exposure and limiting access, specifically through selective sharing and using ?only me? privacy setting. Furthermore, the concepts highlight the need to dig deeper on the role of the family as they are perceived as significant friends in Facebook. Through this study, advancing the need for theory building on privacy and privacy concerns among Filipino users in general is significant.
